Membership is automatically bestowed on those who have attended or graduated from (LS)UNO. Active membership status applies to those members who have registered on the Online Directory. Active membership status is required to receive alumni benefits and to serve on the alumni board. Membership cards will be mailed once you have registered.
Affiliation with the Alumni Association provides a lifelong connection to The University of New Orleans. Joining provides opportunities to mix, mingle and network with old friends and new acquaintances. The social aspect of membership can be very rewarding. Through our publications, you can be kept informed about issues and events relating to the University.
We encourage all former students, whether they have graduated or not, to become active members of the Alumni Association.
We welcome anyone who expresses an interest in The University of New Orleans. While the majority of our membership consists of UNO alumni, we have several members who have “adopted” UNO and support it as their own.
Active UNO alumni receive discounts on the following: UNO Bookstore insignia merchandise, Health and Recreation Center membership, Music Department concerts, Drama Department productions and Intercollegiate Athletics events. Discounts also are available on various campus facility rentals, such as the University Center and the Homer L. Hitt Alumni and Visitors Center. Additionally, the Earl K. Long Library extends borrowing privileges to active alumni.
Because most students customize their academic pace to fit their unique needs, we find reunions based on class year are not effective at UNO. Our students often form friendships based on other criteria, such as major or participation in extra-curricular activities. If you and your associates would like to have a smaller reunion based upon some other criteria, the alumni staff would be happy to assist you.

The UNO Annual Fund, which is also called the UNO First Fund, is the annual giving program of The University of New Orleans and is a critical component of its fundraising campaign. Gifts to the UNO First Fund provides flexible resources that are used to meet the most immediate needs of the University like recruiting and retaining talented students, attracting and retaining outstanding faculty, securing the most up-to-date classroom technology, facilitating student and outreach programs, and adding campus enhancements. Although UNO is a public university, we are state-assisted rather than state supported, which means that every donated dollar is important to our success.
Gifts to the UNO First Fund help UNO meet priorities that cannot be funded by state and tuition support alone. The UNO First Fund runs from July 1 to June 30. Gifts may be made at one time or you may pay in installments, with the final installment due by June 30.
For questions or additional information regarding the UNO First Fund, please contact Elisabeth Bains at 504-280-3996.
