  Alumni Homecoming Tailgating Party

The University of New Orleans International Alumni Association and Student Affairs pulled out all the stops to celebrate UNO’s First FOOTBALL Homecoming in 40 years with our First Annual Tailgating party.  With music by Bag o’Donuts (led by UNO alumni!!) and award-winning jambalaya by alumni Emile Steiffel, alumni partied pre-game outside of Tad Gormley Stadium as we waited for the arrival of the Privateer Football Club. The team, escorted by a Krewe of Rolling Elvi, made its way to the stadium to triumph over the Xavier of Ohio Musketeers!

Congratulations to the Privateers and to the Homecoming Court!

  Mardi Gras Brunch

Mardis Gras CenterpieceThe Washington D.C. Region Chapter of the University of New Orleans International Alumni Association holds the Annual UNO Sunday Brunch, the final event surrounding the Washington Mardi Gras weekend.* The Brunch takes place at the Washington Hilton (Jefferson Room) on Sunday from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. Invitations are sent to members of the Louisiana Congressional Delegation, their staff, dignitaries from Louisiana, all UNO alumni in the D.C. region, and to parents of current and prospective students. Corporate sponsors received complimentary invitations to the event for their personal use. During the Brunch, the Chapter President will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The Chancellor of the University will present his "State of the University Address", and a representative from the Admissions Office will award certificates for outstanding service to volunteers in our ARK (Alumni Recruitment Krewe) program. The President of the Alumni Association will provide an update of alumni events back in New Orleans. The Jefferson Room is decorated in Mardi Gras colors, adding to the festivities.

Each year, more and more alumni, friends, members of the Louisiana State legislature and other State and federal officials join us at the UNO Brunch. Last year, 200 guests participated in the merriment. In addition to the personal invitations sent through the mail, the Chancellor and other members of his staff, as well as representatives from the University Advancement team attend the Mardi Gras festivities all week and hand out additional invitations, as they see fit. The Chancellor and his wife mingle with dignitaries all weekend and enjoy the masked ball in one of the Senators’ boxes. Members of the Washington D.C. Chapter assist the alumni staff in obtaining corporate sponsors and invitation lists. On the day of the event, members help decorate, man the reception table and meet and greet guests, including parents of current and prospective students. Chapter volunteers are then recognized and receive certificates for their dedication. Extra tickets to the ball are purchased for entertaining Chapter leaders.

  Spring Fling

Spring FlingDo you and your spouse want to escape the same, old, mundane routine? Been dreaming of escaping to the grandeur of the islands? Are you aware that the UNO International Alumni Association currently has a record of over 1,000 UNO "Alum-Mates?" The historical concept of Alum-Mates is encompassed by wedded couples who uniquely share a common bond as individuals who have earned degrees from the University of New Orleans.

To celebrate this achievement, we host a party in the spring, the Spring Fling, in their honor. Everyone is invited to come and dance the night away to live Calypso music and enjoy exotic treats from the Caribbean. For dessert, you can satisfy your sweetheart, as well as your sweet tooth, with a slice of delicious wedding cake.
